With the assembled notes, the artist threads a narrative history through the different forms of money: organic commodity money used by our ancestors, legally defined paper promissory notes issued by today’s central banks, the digitally scarce cryptocurrency Bitcoin, and the incalculable abstraction of art as money. This history helps to demonstrate the ease of inflating paper currencies, whilst the importance of ‘sound money’ becomes clearer.
